Work Less and Earn More
By
Patti Keating
"A master in the art
of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and
his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body;
his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is
which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence through
whatever he is doing, and leaves others to determine whether
he is working or playing. To himself, he always appears to
be doing both."
- Francoise Rene Auguste Chateaubriand
When you live your life in alignment with your true purpose,
work becomes play and play teaches you about work. Passion
and purpose are intertwined and cannot be separated.
Aligning with your purpose is foundational to the art of
living. The more you act from your purpose, the more you
earn, not only in your finances; your physical, emotional,
intellectual and relational prosperity will increase as
well.
How do you master the art of living? How do you find your
purpose and passion? How do you leverage your time and
talent to create passive revenue streams that allow you to
become more of who you really are?
1. The single most important step in the quest to leveraging
self actualized income is to say "yes" to your dreams and
desires. When you say "yes", you open up to new
possibilities and the next step always appears. Many times
you are so conditioned to saying "no" that being open to
your potential takes a little practice.
2. Give yourself permission to have whatever your heart
wants. When you notice something you would like, claim it!
"I would like to have a new SUV!" (We are in snow and ice
storm this week so this is a personal example!) Let yourself
have what you want. State your desire boldly and with
confidence. Your goal is to feel an air of confidence and
commitment. It is an "I want THIS... so I can have it"
attitude.
3. Get clear about the specifics. What kind? What color? How
many? (One navy blue Subaru Forrester!) Give your
unconscious mind specifics to focus on. Tell yourself
EXACTLY what you want. You already know. Give yourself the
time to get really clear about what you want. One way to
gain clarity is through adversity. When you face problems
(opportunities) they are always pointing you toward what you
want. Embrace the information the problem brings. (After a
30 minute power outage today, in an ice storm with
additional falling snow, I knew exactly what I wanted.
However, I was unaware of the details until I faced the
opportunity to focus. Intellectually, I know I feel the
greatest security and experience the most adventure when I
have an SUV. I venture out more in the winter and we climb
dirt mountain roads in the summer. I wasn't allowing my
desire into my awareness until it was really needed and
wanted!)
4. See it happening. Put yourself smack dab in your minds
picture of having what you want. See it as if it is
happening now, and know you are creating the future. Have
fun creating a vision for your desire. (I am driving myself
and my 2 boys to Mount Hood to ski in my new Navy Blue
Forrester. They are watching the snow as we climb the
mountain pass. I feel so safe and confident in any weather!)
5. Take Inspired Action. Move toward your goal with action
steps that come from your inspiration. What feels right is
always the best next step for you. Your inspiration is a
direct link to your source. And your source always guides
you to the perfect experience for your growth, learning and
contribution. (As I play more in the winter snow and summer
mountain creeks, I will give more in my teachings because of
what I learn.)
6. Expect the results you desire. This is the greatest
thing! Now just go about your day knowing that your desire
will come to you. You don't have to chase it down or worry
about whether it will happen or not. Simply focus on what
you want, and then go about your day. Watch for
opportunities. (Who knows, when I go to the gym tomorrow the
person on the spin bike next to me may know someone who
wants to sell their navy blue Subaru ASAP!)
7. Be sooooo grateful for what you have now! Love your life
right where you are. After all, you created it! Whatever you
want is on it's way because you are a magnificent creator!
Look at all the incredible things you have brought into your
life. People, travel, work, health, happiness and
connection. What a beautiful person you are. Isn't it
amazing? If you weren't where you are right now, you would
not have the opportunity to move forward toward the next
thing you are bringing into your life. Wow! Look at you!
Love yourself and everything in your life. (My kids are so
beautiful and brilliant whether we are skiing in the
mountains, or candle lit in a freezing power outage. Avery
brought me a blanket the moment the power went out... what
more could I ever need or want?)
8. Share the lessons you learn from your own personal
growth. The more your share yourself and the experiences you
move through, the more others will open up and accept their
experiences. As we all bloom in our own unique and perfect
purpose, the garden of human beauty will bloom and the world
will transform in ways that right now can only be imagined!
